Our Place in the Hive

Marsh & Mantle Mercantile is a small Lowcountry candle maker focused on traditional hand-dipped beeswax candles.

We began with a simple observation: a beeswax candle is not really manufactured. It is the continuation of something that started outdoors — in fields, gardens, and marsh flowers — and passed through the work of a colony and the care of a beekeeper before it ever reached our hands.

Because of that, we chose to work directly within the regional beekeeping community. We are members of local and statewide beekeeper organizations and are developing an Adopt-a-Hive effort to help support colony maintenance and education.

Our role is modest. We don’t create the material. We shape it so it can be used again.

When someone lights one of our candles, they are not just lighting a product. They are participating in a cycle that begins with pollination and ends with a small, steady flame on a table.

Marsh & Mantle exists to keep that connection visible.
